Dear MTUESD Community,

The excitement of Halloween festivities is definitely in the air. We hope we see you at the Trunk or Treat events.

I want to thank both of our parent clubs for their tireless work on behalf of our students. The ongoing fundraising throughout the school year creates opportunities for programs that we would not be able to afford otherwise. The effort is GREATLY appreciated by students and staff alike.

There was a fun evening of “Are you smarter than a fourth grader?” held at the Murphy’s Pour House on Monday to benefit science camp tuition. Thanks to all of those who came to support the evening.

We are delighted to welcome Randie Ortloff as the newly appointed kindergarten teacher filling the vacancy created last month.  She starts next week!  I appreciate our Board holding a special meeting to on-board her quickly.

I want to thank the parents that I’ve met over this past couple of weeks. I really appreciate the collaboration and kindness, as we work together to resolve some issues. The tone was really supportive and collaborative, and I know it means the world to everybody when we can be respectful and problem solved together.

Attendance continues to be a major area of focus. I know with the holidays coming up sometimes there’s a temptation to take an extra couple of days off school. There is a huge correlation between attendance and success in school. It also critically impacts our funding. I urge you to please take your break on the scheduled calendar. Kids can’t learn if they’re not here, and we really, really need them here.

Join us for the Candidates Night to hear more about the folks that have decided to stand for elections in our community.  We appreciate everyone’s willingness to serve and invite you to attend the candidates night at Bret Harte Theater on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
