Curriculum
Curriculum used in MTUESD classrooms is State Board adopted and approved by MTUESD local board. It is the intent of the State of California to implement new curriculum every 7 years, but due to the budget crisis, the State has removed laws that were previously in place regarding adoptions. The next subject for MTUESD to adopt is English Language Arts. Teaching staff and parents serve on committees to select from approved materials for use in the classroom.
Materials that are not State Board adopted and are being used in the classroom must be approved by the local board.
CDE - Curriculum Frameworks & Instructional Materials
Curriculum frameworks provide guidance for implementing the content standards adopted by the State Board of Education (SBE). Frameworks are developed by the Curriculum Development and Supplemental Materials Commission, which also reviews and recommends textbooks and other instructional materials to be adopted by the SBE.
